An open seat to be filled for School Board

According to Eagle Grove Board of Education secretary Teresa Sadler, there are no current candidates for an open seat for the school board election this fall. Incumbents Tracy Crail and Elaine Schope have taken out papers to run for reelection to their seats, but Pat Manues has decided to not seek relection.  That means her seat remains open with no candidate yet filed for that four-year, at-large seat. 

According to Sadler, a candidate must be an eligible elector in the district and must meet all the requirements to register to vote but does not have to be registered. They also must be a resident of Iowa and at least 18 years old. They must file an affidavit of candidacy along with nomination papers and those must be filed together. Nomination papers are available at either the school secretary’s (district) office or the county auditor’s office at the Courthouse. The deadline to file is 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.
