Officer Jamey Louk has a family background in law enforcement

We introduced you to Officer Jacob Buzzard in last week’s Eagle, so now meet the other new man on the local police force. Officer Jamey Louk is originally from Paton, and was previously a reserve officer in Gowrie before coming here for a fulltime position. He has a lot of family members that are already involved in this profession, and it has always sparked his interest to give it a try himself.

“I like it here,” said Louk when asked his impressions of the community. “It’s a nice town. It’s pretty much what I expected.” He feels that when things begin to grow due to Prestage, that the officers will be ready. “We’ll see how everything goes, and take it as it comes,” said the new officer.

He feels that this job suits him well for a career. “I like everything about it,” said Louk. “It’s rewarding helping people in need.” While he really hasn’t given much thought to any extra training, as he is just trying to get settled in, he might look at it down the road. For now, his focus is on the Academy. “I still need to go to Camp Dodge in Des Moines for that,” said Louk. He will start next January, and graduate in April. “I’m excited and looking forward to it,” he said. He likes the idea of learning new things he can use in his job and making connections with other new officers.
