Officer Buzzard knew what he wanted for career

New Eagle Grove Police Officer Jacob Buzzard knew from an early age that he wanted to try law enforcement as a career, and he is not regretting that decision.

“Being a cadet gave me a big perspective into what it takes for this job,” said the eager 19-year old cop. “I decided then that that was what I wanted to do. The senior officers (in his hometown) said I should apply, and it all came together.”

Buzzard is originally from Shenandoah (pop. 5,000+) and ironically, while serving as a cadet there, became acquainted and worked with current Eagle Grove officers Vic Slape and Drew Brownlee. “I think I knew even before that time that I wanted to give this a try, but being a cadet then really put it to the forefront of my thinking on a career,” said Buzzard.

He feels that Eagle Grove is a lot like his hometown. “It’s a very welcoming community with really caring people,” said the young officer. “I’ve found that out in my interactions with people here, and I have been enjoying that.”
