Matthes, Halverson and Dawson lead baseball stats

The Eagle Grove varsity baseball team finished the 2019 season with a 2-23 overall record, and placed two players on the allconference list. Freshman Thomas Matthes was named to the 2nd Team, while senior Nick Halverson earned an Honorable Mention spot.

The young Eagles had 512 total at-bats to produce 66 total runs on 118 total hits. Among those were 17 doubles and five triples. A total of 47 RBI were produced. There was three sac fly’s, 99 walks taken, 12 players hit by pitch and 32 steals in 38 attempts. The collective team batting average was .225, with a .277 slugging percentage.

Thomas Matthes had 26 hits in 69 at-bats for an average of .377. Nick Halverson had 23 hits in 64 at-bats for an average of .359. Mark Dawson had 18 hits in 60 atbats for an average of .300. Blake Morgan had 18 hits in 54 at-bats for an average of .333. Leo Calles had nine hits in 49 at-bats for an average of .184.
