Lyle B. Christensen

Lyle B. Christensen, 88, of Eagle Grove, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.

Lyle Burnett Christensen, the son of Harry C. and L. Pearl (Burnett) Christensen, was born on Aug. 28, 1935, near Vincent, Iowa. As a child, he and his family moved to the farm in rural Humboldt County. Lyle attended country school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the “Class of 1953”.

On Sept. 20, 1953, Lyle married the love of his life, Marie Louise Campbell, at the Eagle Grove Methodist Church. To this union, three children were born: Cindy, Randy and Pam.

Lyle worked at a number of locations in Eagle Grove following his marriage. In the late 1950’s he and Marie moved to the farm to begin working as farm hands for his father. Lyle began full-time farming in 1962 following the death of his father, and continued active farming with the help of his son, Randy, until he retired in 2020.

During his lifetime, he enjoyed sharing his gifts of music, sense of humor and his woodworking skills. He loved his connection with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his extended family and friends.

Lyle passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Clarence Kramer; siblings Ardys, Shirley, Bonnie and Beryl.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marie of Eagle Grove; children Cindy Marshall of Clarion, Randy (Lynette) Christensen of Eagle Grove, Pam Christensen of Fort Dodge; grandchildren Suzanne Marshall (Bryce Rustwick) of West Des Moines, Derek (Keely) Christensen of Grand Meadow, MN, Kristina Marshall (Patrick Townsend) of Oakdale, MN, Kendra (Jacob) Oswald of Monticello, and Kathleen (Jerad) Watts of Clarion; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sandra Napier of Eagle Grove and Yvonne Rasmussen of Webster City; brothers-in-law Gilbert (Helen) Campbell of Pea Ridge, AR, Bob (Sandy) Campbell of Eagle Grove, and Paul (Jackie) Campbell of Eagle Grove, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Per Lyle’s wishes, he was cremated and will be interred at a later date. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
