Local Veterans talk about their Honor Flight

egeagle@goldfieldaccess.net For the past several years, the Brushy Creek Honor Flight has been making it possible for U.S. Veterans to travel to our Nation’s Capital in Washington, D.C. It’s a way of honoring them for their sacrifices and service to our country.

The most recent flight took off on Saturday, May 6, leaving Fort Dodge at 6:20 a.m. A total of 144 Veterans boarded the flight for the trip of a lifetime.

Betty Koob, a WWII Army Veteran from Eagle Grove was aboard the flight. Koob served from 1943 - 1945, first as a nurse, and later as a Ward Master. Although she has been to D.C. before, she was honored to be able to go with the Brushy Creek flight and see how much things have changed there.
