Local church on a mission to help provide Hurricane Harvey relief

During times of devastation, the goodness of mankind can bring a ray of light to victims. After Hurricane Harvey hit Texas just a couple weeks ago, people across the United States wanted to do what they could to provide hope for the victims hit hardest, and that includes people from the Eagle Grove area. However, many were unsure of exactly how to help. If they sent money would it all be used for the victims? If only they could send needed items to them instead.

“People have a tendency to want to give specifics rather than just sending money and not knowing exactly what it’s used for,” said Jason Cooper, Pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. “Plus, (buying supplies and sending them) helps out our local economy as well.”

That’s when Pastor Cooper and his congregation decided to do what they could in Hurricane Relief efforts from our part of the country. Cooper reached out to a friend who is a Mission Director in Texas.

“I asked him what we could do to help,” Cooper said.
