Lawson Auto puts soldier in the driver’s seat

It’s not every day we get to do something to personally thank a soldier for their service, and it’s not every business that would take advantage of the opportunity to do so. But Brad and Rhonda Lawson, owners of Lawson Auto in Eagle Grove, recently got this chance, and they were happy to show that once again, hometown service is like no other.

When Monte Umstead walked through the doors of Lawson Auto last week and told them he was in search of a vehicle for his son, Luke, who had just returned home from two years of service in Korea, the Lawson’s were ready to help in any way possible. A shiny red, wellcared- for Buick LaSabre had caught Monte’s eye while driving by, and he wondered what the Lawson’s could do to help put his son in the driver’s seat - but there was one small situation.

They didn’t have long to make the transaction as his son was only given a four-day leave to return from Kansas City to pick up a vehicle.
