Lady Eagles are Conference champs again

The 2017 Top of Iowa Girls cross country meet was held October 12th at the NIACC campus in Mason City on a sunny but windy afternoon. With the conference being comprised of 18 schools, the field is divided into Western and Eastern divisions with the Lady Eagles running in the Western side of the race.

When you look at the programs in either division there is some very traditionally strong teams such as West Fork, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura, Osage, and Newman Catholic. We see many of these schools several times throughout the season so everyone knows everyone and you aren’t going to sneak up on a team in this conference.

Over the last three weeks we have been following our training plan and saw positive improvements in our practices, meet performances, and were getting our girls back to 100% as we finished up the regular season. I was very excited to have the opportunity run against many teams that we will compete against next week at the state qualifier in Eagle Grove.

The conference meet provided a good measuring stick to where we are at compared to other teams. I told the girls they have bought into my training program, worked hard the last few months, and the final results will come from their heart and determination. I stress to them as a coach I am just the author of a book and they write the chapters for the 2017 season.
