Kay Derscheid

Kay Francis (Fawcett) Derscheid, the daughter of Wayne and Mary Lou (Malasie) Fawcett, was born on August 28, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in1965. She then graduated from Bernell’s Beauty College.

In October of 1968, Kay married Jim Spencer in Eagle Grove and they had two children, Michelle and Brad. Jim preceded her in death on May 20, 1992. On January 7, 2000, Kay married Rick Derscheid in Hawaii.

Kay worked in sales for Prep Illustrated. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Kay enjoyed shopping, socializing with friends, spending winters in Arizona, book club and spending time with family.

Kay passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020, at the age of 73 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Mary Fawcett and husband Jim Spencer.

Survivors include her husband, Rick of Eagle Grove; children, Michelle Baedke (Jeff) of Port Byron, IL and Brad Spencer (Jennifer) of Fort Dodge; four grandchildren: Nicole Baedke (fiancé Phil Hayes) of Des Moines, Drew Baedke of Port Byron, IL, Tanner Spencer of Fort Dodge and Tori Spencer of Fort Dodge; great-grandson, Eli Armour; step-daughter, Jill Malloy (Nate) of Sioux Falls; step-grandchildren, Kaeden, Kennedy and Kylan Malloy; sister, Nancy Fawcett of Eagle Grove and many other family members and friends.

Visitation was Monday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove – Wearing Masks and Social Distancing are greatly encouraged. Private family services will be held on Tuesday at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
