Halversons humbled to be 2019 EGHS Homecoming Grand Marshals

Each year as the fall season approaches and the students head back to class, there’s an air of excitement for many reasons...one of those being the fact that Homecoming is only a few weeks away. That means many important decisions have to be made in those very first few days in preparation for the big event - like who will the Top 10 King and Queen candidates be? Who will earn the recognition of their peers into the Top 5? Another important decision that is never taken lightly is who the senior class wants to recognize and honor for their contribution to them over the years...who will they ask to be the Homecoming Grand Marshal(s)?

This year’s honor has been bestowed upon husband and wife team, Terry and Erin Halverson, for their support in the stands, as Sports Boosters, a school board member, fundraising co-chairs and volunteers, and all-around involvement with the students over the years while raising their own two sons, Sean and Nick (both now graduated), in the school district. “To say we were honored to be asked to serve as Grand Marshals this year is an understatement! When we think about the people chosen before us, we are humbled to be in that same company,” said Erin.

As an EGHS alumni of the Class of 1986, Erin has the purple and gold spirit running through her veins. In high school she participated in football and basketball cheerleading (under the direction of Lou Voss before she was a Voss), participated in swing choir, musicals, and even played Helen Keller in the school play. When she was 17-years-old she met Terry who graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1985.

“The rest is history,” Erin joked.
