Gold-Eagle Cooperative increasing presence in Highway 17 corridor

After opening their state of the art truck wash building almost two years ago, Gold-Eagle Cooperative recently embarked on yet another project just to the north of that facility. Construction of their new truck shop is well underway, and is set to open sometime next spring. According to General Manager Brad Davis, it’s a matter of trying to centralize everything for more company efficiency.

“All of our truck flows go south, whether it’s feed trucks or corn going to the mill or beans to AGP,” said Davis. “We will be able to stage all of our fleet there, for times like when we do the annual DOT inspections for instance. We can keep all of our transportation equipment on site in one place.”

Davis went on to say that they were running out of room at the facility on east Broadway. “We needed to make changes, and we have a plan in progress for changes at the downtown facility down the road. As we continue to bring more trucks into our fleet, it will save us time and give us greater efficiency. With the cost of equipment, etc., time is money.” That was a big part of the reason for the new truck wash, along with a better location. “We can wash a truck in just four minutes,” said Davis. “It’s currently just for our company trucks, but I think we’ll allow non-livestock trucks to use it sometime in the future.”
