Free English language classes offered

Imagine being in a country where you didn’t understand what was being said by the majority of the people around you. What if you wanted to learn their language, but you were afraid? What if you didn’t know where to go for help? There are people like that living in our community, which is why the Iowa Central Career Academy in Eagle Grove has decided to reach out to them. They are offering a free class to help the non-English speaking population learn how to read, write, and speak the English language.

Colleen Bartlett, Career Academy site manager, said that not too long ago, she attended a program for Spanish-speaking residents as part of her job. That’s when she realized the need for English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

“I had no clue what was being said,” Bartlett said.
