Free Community Thanksgiving Feast in EG on Thursday, Nov. 22

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and we all know what that means - it’s time to Gobble till you wobble. Now what if there was a way for you to gobble up those traditional feast foods without having to step foot in the kitchen? I would say that gives us something to be even more thankful for. Well that wish can be a reality for anyone and everyone here in Eagle Grove thanks to the generous heart of Bert Aukland, her family, friends, and many volunteers.

“I may have come up with the idea (of a community Thanksgiving feast), but without this particular group of people who continue to volunteer, it wouldn’t be possible,” said Aukland.

She and her helpers are excited to be hosting their ninth annual Free Community Thanksgiving Feast again at Memorial Hall on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. The meal is completely free for everyone regardless of age, income, or ability. The intentions are to welcome everyone who would like to gather to share a meal together. Aukland originally planned the Community Thanksgiving Feast because of a desire to bring people together during the holiday - to give people a place to go and something to do. That reason holds strong today. She said it doesn’t matter the reason you come, only that you do, and when you do, it makes her, and her growing group of volunteers, thankful you joined them.
