Former Wright County 4-Her, Jane Roberts, returns to lend a hand for the 2019 Fair

4-H isn’t just a club that Jane Roberts of Belmond joined when she was in fourth grade - for her, it’s a way of life. Even though she graduated from Belmond- Klemme high school two years ago, and no longer has entries at the Wright County Fair, she is staying involved in 4-H, helping the next generation of members succeed by interning as the 2019 Wright County Iowa State Extension and Outreach intern.

“This is my dream internship,” said Roberts. “I can help out my ag career (which she is pursuing by attending Iowa State University), help out the county...and help my fellow 4-Hers all at the same time.”

Roberts was a member of the Iowa Hawkeyes 4-H Club for nine years and was also involved in FFA. During that time, she participated in just about every area of competition the fair has to offer - static entries (items displayed in the 4-H buildings like photography, Home Improvement, Horticulture, etc.), demonstrations, turkey, ducks geese, broilers, and even did the pet show one year.

“The only thing I regret from my 4-H career is that I never did the Fashion Revue,” admitted Roberts.

Looking back, she realizes now how much fun it would have been to shop for cute outfits and also how to select proper clothing for specific events.
