Football season stats show Smith leading district in picks

Final stat categories in Class 1A, District 6 football show the Eagle Grove Eagles doing well in several areas after fashioning a 6-3 overall record and a 4-3 district mark. Van Meter was champion with a 7-0 record, followed by South Hamilton at 6-1 and the Eagles. In nine games, the team rushed for 1,673 total yards on 413 carries. They compiled 627 total passing yards and scored 177 total points. Of those, 84 were scored by the run and 60 by the pass. They kicked nine PAT’s and converted on 10 two-point attempts. Brayden Lyman gained 694 total yards on 128 carries with seven TD’s. He averaged 5.4 yards per attempt. Evan Anderson gained 614 yards on 151 carries with two TD’s. He averaged 4.1 yards per attempt. Niko Padilla gained 397 yards on 111 carries with five TD’s. Other totals show Ryan Smith with 37 yards, Joel Mendoza with 24 yards, John Mosley with 15 yards and Dawson Lalor with one yard of rushing offense. Read the full story in the November 8 edition.
