Final football stats show Calles, Darland lead offense & Dawson defense

The final season stats for Eagle Grove’s varsity football team show several athletes leading the way on both sides of the ball. At quarterback, Jake Darland went 17 of 70 for 309 total yards for a 24.3 completion percentage. He threw for 18.2 yards per completion, with one touchdown toss and 10 interceptions.

His targets were led by Nick Huntley with 13 catches for 267 yards (20.5 yard average) with one TD. Mark Dawson caught two passes for 20 total yards, Preston Huntley one for 18 yards and Jorge Perez one of four yards.

Roberto Calles made 109 rushing attempts for 353 total yards and one TD. Joel Mendoza had 44 carries for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Francisco Gonzalez had 42 carries for 136 yards. Darland carried 78 times for 130 yards. Dawson had 37 attempts for 95 yards. Tate Richardson had three attempts for 81 yards, along with the highest average at 27.0 yards per carry. Orlando Hernandez had 10 attempts for 27 yards, Peyton Larsen had 22 yards on five carries, Andrew Dencklau 14 yards on four attempts and Nick Huntley 13 attempts for 13 yards.

The top five total offense leaders (rushing & receiving) were: Calles with 353 total yards, N. Huntley with 280, Mendoza with 157, Gonzalez with 136 and Darland with 130. The top five total offense leaders (rushing & passing) were: Darland with 439 total yards, Calles with 353, Mendoza with 157, Gonzalez with 136 and Dawson with 95. The top five in scoring were: Mendoza with 20 points, N. Huntley with 14 points, Calles with eight points and both Dawson and Richardson with six points each.
