Fareway campaign makes good “cents”

The citizens of Eagle Grove and area Fareway shoppers have come together to show support for our local police department, donating more than $2,000 in the grocery store’s recent “Round-Up” campaign.

It all began in May when Eagle Grove Fareway Grocery Manager Chris Livengood announced he and Tracy Crail, Fareway meat manger, wanted to do something that would help give back to Eagle Grove police officers. It was their way of thanking them for all they do, not only for their store, but for the community in general.

From that desire stemmed the idea to ask shoppers at the cash register if they would be willing to round-up their bill to the nearest dollar amount, with the extra change going to the EGPD.

After collecting $2,050 in a few short weeks, it’s obvious the public answered that question with a resounding “yes.”

“We want to thank our customer (for rounding-up) because they made it possible,” said Livengood.
