Espejo, Smith lead scoring for Eagle basketball final stats

The final Eagle Grove boys basketball stats for this season show two players hitting for double digits averages, four of them in the top six of stat categories for the Top of Iowa-West games only. The team finished 11-11 overall, with an 8-8 record in conference play. Forest City and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura tied for the division title at 14-2, followed by Bishop Garrigan at 13-3. The Eagles tied West Hancock for fourth. Three players have been named to the All-Conference Teams. Spencer Espejo earned a spot on the 1st Team, Ryan Smith on the 2nd Team and Niko Padilla on the 3rd Team. All of them are seniors.

The team scored 1,293 total points for an average of 58.8 ppg. They made 492 of 1,172 field goals for 42.0 percent, 139 of 430 three-pointers for 32.3 percent and 170 of 273 free throws for 62.3 percent. Espejo scored 374 points on 132 of 282 shots from the field for an average of 17.0 ppg. Smith scored 370 points on 146 of 307 shots for an average of 16.8 ppg. Padilla scored 184 points on 69 of 148 shots for an average of 8.8 ppg. John Mosley scored 117 points on 46 of 130 shots for an average of 5.3 ppg. Enzo Gebara scored 85 points on 28 of 80 shots for an average of 4.0 ppg.

Chase Blasi scored 60 points on 28 of 62 shots for an average of 2.9 ppg. Austin Hill scored 42 points on 19 of 72 shots for an average of 2.0 ppg. Logan Hansen scored 22 points on nine of 31 shots for an average of 1.2 ppg. Nick Halverson scored 17 points on six of 23 shots for an average of 1.4 ppg. Jake Darland scored 16 points on six of 17 shots for an average of 2.7 ppg. Other scoring came from Mo Friedl, Colton Poncin and Ben Nessa, all at two points apiece.
