EGHS Class of ‘64 to dedicate high school study park on Aug. 2

Thirty years after graduating from Eagle Grove High School, the Class of 1964 started giving back to their Alma Mater.  But according to Bill Wright, this year’s service project, renovating the study park across from the high school, was by far the most difficult, but also the most rewarding for their class.

“When we were shown the park, my first thought, and I know most of the other committee members’ was, ‘You got to be kidding.’ The Class of 1964 hasn’t backed away from any school projects offered, and we weren’t about to start now,” said Wright.  “The big question we wrestled with was ‘How far can we take this thing?”

In September, 2013, the committee got to work cleaning up the park.  In the spring of 2014, stumps were removed, land was leveled, and concrete was torn out.  In June, cement work was done.

“Our vision of this park was easy...the financial part was our biggest worry and hurdle,” said Wright.  “However, when we put out the word to our classmates, they responded with the buck.”
