Coach Ann Sampson and the Eagle Grove Golden Stars Drill Team are excited to announce they have been chosen to perform at the Outback Bowl in Tampa Bay, Florida on January 1, 2019. This is a huge honor as Just For Kix only invites 200 - 250 dancers to perform each year during the pre-game and half-time shows.

According to Sampson, in order to qualify for the Outback Bowl game, you must audition at one of the Just For Kix camps or send in an audition video. The dancers attending the four-day camp spend about 15 minutes prior to stretching every morning learning parts of a routine. They must practice in their free time between classes and in the evenings to perfect the routine and add several more eight counts to personalize it. Then on the third night, the teams audition in front of the judges and the entire camp.

The team puts on several camps throughout the Midwest which leaves many dancers vying for the prestigious opportunity to perform before a crowd of thousands of fans at Raymond James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and location of the 2019 Outback Bowl.

“We have been attending Just For Kix camps since 1994,” said Sampson. “This is our sixth time performing at the Outback Bowl game. Our first year was 1995-96. We try and audition every four years when there is a turnover of new dancers on the team, so sometimes a dancer may go as a freshman, and others will be seniors. But it is always a trip of a lifetime and one the girls always cherish years later.”
