Eagles shutout by highly rated Van Meter

Eagle Grove put up a valiant effort through the first quarter of last Friday’s homecoming game with Van Meter, only being down 7-0 after the Bulldogs first drive ended with them turning it over on downs and their second drive with a Brayden Lyman interception. Unfortunately, once Van Meter finally got rolling it was all down hill from there for the Eagles in a 37-0 loss.

“They are as good as advertised, and we were physically outmanned at too many positions on the field,” stated head coach Paul Hansch. “Offensively, we got no push at the line of scrimmage and that makes for a long night. I felt like the kids played with a lot of heart and effort, and that was encouraging to see.”

Evan Anderson gained 20 yards on 11 carries, Niko Padilla 19 yards on eight attempts and Brayden 13 yards on eight carries. Brayden was two of seven for six yards in passes with an interception. Padilla caught that ball.
