Eagles pull off exciting 27-23 win in closing seconds

In one of the more exciting home games in recent memory, the Eagle Grove varsity football team faced a 23-13 deficit entering the final quarter versus Southeast Valley. Coach Paul Hansch’s young men tightened their chinstraps another notch and went out and played a dominant fourth quarter. Following a pretty touchdown pass to pull to within two, they capped it off with another score with just seconds remaining to eek out a suspenseful 27- 23 win that left the crowd of Eagle fans drained and maybe a bit hoarse from all the cheering they were doing.

“By any measure, this was a great start to the season,” stated head coach Paul Hansch. “I think anyone who was at the game would have been impressed with the way the kids continued to compete until they got the win in the final 25 seconds of the game. Being down by two scores most of the way, I was very pleased with the effort shown throughout the game.”
