Eagles play a close set in each of two matches

Improvement continues to come a little at a time for the Eagle Grove varsity volleyball team, even though the overall record doesn’t show it. Last Tuesday in home match with North Union, the visitors won in straight sets by scores of 25- 22, 25-9 and 25-5. The team served at just over 90 percent, with Laine Morgan going 9 of 9 to lead the way. Marisa Beecher was 6 of 6, Emmy Huse 4 of 4 and Kenzie Crail 4 of 6 (one ace). Hannah Demory was 3 of 3 and Tori Huntley 2 of 2.

Morgan set the ball to the tune of five assists, with M. Beecher making two and Brittney Osborn one. H. Beecher had five kills in the attack, with Morgan getting three and both Huntley and Huse two apiece. Crail and Demory pounded one successful spike each. Crail hit double-digit digs with 13, followed by H. Beecher with six, M. Beecher with five and Mariana Gonzalez with four. Huntley made three saves of the ball, with Huse and Morgan at two each and Demory and Osborn at one apiece. Huntley had a solo block, while H. Beecher and Huntley had a block assist each.
