Eagles lose to Cowboys

For the better part of three quarters the game was fairly even, but then the Eagle football team saw Clarion- Goldfield-Dows pull away on their home turf for a 36-12 win. The scores came on a 33-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Nick Huntley and an 11-yard run by Roberto Calles.

Joel Mendoza piled up 65 yards on 10 attempts (6.5 average), with Calles’s total for the night at 49 yards on eight totes. Darland added nine yards, Orlando Hernandez three yards and Francisco Gonzalez one yard. Darland completed one pass on eight attempts, which went to Huntley for 39 yards.

Four other fumble recoveries included one each for Darland, Andrew Dencklau, Corbin Dutcher and Mendoza. Gonzalez kicked off twice for a 20-yard average, Calles once for 43 yards and Isaac Olson once for 20 yards. Calles punted five times for a 24.8-yard average and Gonzalez twice for a 26.5-yard average. Huntley ran back two kicks for a 17.5-yard average, Calles one kick for 22 yards and Mark Dawson one kick for 14 yards.
