Eagles get back in win column 29-14 at Panora

The Eagle Grove varsity football team got back to business last Friday on the road at Panora, putting one in the win column again with perhaps their best all-around game of the year 29-14 over Panorama. Niko Padilla opened the scoring late in the first quarter, going in from three-yards out with just 33 ticks on the clock. The PAT kick was no good. At the 6:11 mark of the second quarter, Brayden Lyman hooked up with Ryan Smith on a pretty 71-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion failed. Panorama then put two scores on the board before halftime, putting them ahead 14-12 as the teams entered the locker rooms.

The Eagles controlled the second half and did all the scoring, starting with a safety at the 9:22 mark of the third quarter. With 5:06 left in the game, the visitors scored again on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Lyman to Padilla. The two-point conversion run by Padilla was good, making it 22-14. With just 25 seconds left in the game, the purple and gold put the game on ice with a 50-yard run by Brayden. The PAT by Nicolas Lentz was good, making for the final score.

“I was really glad to see the way the kids bounced back from two tough losses the last two weeks,” stated head coach Paul Hansch. “I thought we played with tremendous effort on both sides of the ball, and I feel this is the most complete game we have played all season.”
