Eagles baseball season ends in loss to Roland-Story

The Eagle Grove baseball team bowed out of the Class 2A district baseball tournament last Saturday in a 9-2 loss to Roland- Story in Story City. Complete stats for the game were not yet available on quikstatsiowa, so watch for those in next week’s Eagle. The young team fi nishes 2-23, with Nick Halverson, Peyton Woodbeck and Leo Calles all fi nishing their high school careers.

Prior to that, they lost 11-4 to Southeast Valley on Monday. The Jaguars forged a 7-0 lead after fi ve complete frames, and then rubbed salt in the wound by plating four more scores in the sixth. The Eagles refused to go down quietly, bringing four of their men across the plate in the sixth as well.
