Eagle wrestling team is ninth at Winterset Invite

The Eagle wrestling team traveled to Winterset last Saturday for the Gary Christensen Invitational. Osage won the team title with 188.5 points, just edging out Interstate-35 of Truro at 184.5. The rest of the top five was Van Meter at 175.5, Underwood (West Lyon) at 140 and ADM at 118. The Eagles were ninth in the 17-team field.

Joel Mendoza (220) took second for the highest individual finish, using a quick fall and two decisions to push himself into the title match. He was then pinned by Fisher (Woodward-Granger) in the finals. Mark Dawson (145) took third place, winning three matches by major decisions including a 12-4 win over Corcoran (V. Meter) in his final match of the day.
