Eagle wrestlers take four dual meet wins in opening week

The Eagle Grove wrestling team opened their season last Tuesday with a home meet by hosting Algona, North Union and Northwood-Kensett. The Eagles scored an easy 72-12 win over North Union, taking seven wins by fall along with five more via forfeits. Winning by pin were Derek Graham (120), Gabe Rolon (126), Mark Dawson (132), Peyton Woodbeck (145), Saxon Lyman (160), Brayden Lyman (170) and Dylan Kruckenberg (195). The quickest of those was Rolon in putting his opponents shoulders to the mat in just 1:20.

They defeated Northwood-Kensett 50-30, with Jacob Graham and Dawson Lalor (138) scoring falls and Jacob doing his in a mere 38 seconds. Saxon scored a dominating technical fall 18-3, while Dawson put up a 12-9 decision on the board. They ran into a tougher time versus Algona, but still held their own in a 39-33 Bulldog victory. Getting pins were Jacob Graham, Dawson and Lalor, with Jacob’s 1:13 over his man being the quickest. Brayden won by a 10-4 score, Saxon an 8-1 final and Joel Mendoza (220) a 3-0 decision.
