Eagle volleyball drops matches to Garrigan, Lake Mills

Last Tuesday in a home match, the Eagle Grove varsity volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Bishop Garrigan. Set scores were 25-8, 25-13 and 25-13. Team serving was at 71.9 percent, with Hannah Beecher going 5 of 7 and Laine Morgan 4 of 5. Sadie Stuhr and Hallie Jeske both went 3 of 3, with Brittney Osborn 3 of 4 and Kenzie Crail 3 of 6. Hannah Huntley and Natalie Vrba were both 1 of 2 from behind the line.

Stuhr set for seven assists, with Mogan credited with two. Morgan pounded four kills, with Vrba making three and Beecher two. Crail and Hannah Demory both had one apiece. Crail and Jeske both made 10 digs, with Stuhr getting four and both Beecher and Vrba three each. Morgan made two saves of the ball, while Michelle Mericle and Osborn had one each.

“It was a frustrating night, especially coming off last week,” stated head coach Karla Tweeten. “They’re a scrappy team and they played well. We lost to ourselves, but had some good efforts. Laine is stepping up as a hitter. We missed serves, but not due to aggressiveness. We were beating ourselves, and just need to learn from it and play better.”
