Eagle track & field team goes to Manson

Last Tuesday the Eagle Grove boys track & field team traveled to a meet hosted by Manson NW Webster. South Central Calhoun took the team title with 148 points, followed in order by: Pocahontas Area 142, Carroll 85, St. Edmond 75, Southeast Valley 72, Eagle Grove 31, Manson NW Webster 29 and East Sac County seven.

Dallas Hammitt came through yet again, taking second in the shot put at just over 42 feet for the highest individual finish. Derricklee Harms had a bronze finish in the 400 at a 54.42 clocking.

“It was a perfect night for running, and we did a great job as a team when comparing ourselves to our own team,” stated head coach Ben Demuth. “I know the team score is still not where we expect to be, but we still had 12 events set new season-best marks and some of those also dropped significant time.”

He felt all of the milers did a great job of packing up and working together. “I was pleased with how Jacob and Jon ran,” said Demuth. “They both dropped time and were able to compete throughout all the races. Cael had a great night and dropped time. We have talked in the past of how important the start is, and he got after it right away and left two guys early in the race and never saw them again.”
