Eagle track & field team competes at qualifier meet

The Eagle Grove boys track & field team took part in a Class 2A state qualifying (Girls Regional/Boys District) meet last Thursday at Garner. Forest City took the team title with 143 points, followed in order by: Central Springs 85, South Hamilton 79, Clear Lake 72, Estherville-Lincoln Central 63.5, Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon 55.5, Osage 55.5, Emmetsburg 51.5, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 48, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 42, Eagle Grove 27 and Belmond- Klemme 19.

“I told the guys to do the very best they could and leave it all on the track,” stated head coach Ben Demuth. “We had 11 season bests, so I think they did that. It was everything we could ask of them. It didn’t turn out the way we wanted, but that’s a part of sports. I’m tickled pink with their efforts over the year along with the time they put in. Our kids bought into what we wanted to accomplish, and understood the process it took.”
