Eagle softball season ends at Belmond 11-5

After getting on a nice roll at the end of the season schedule, the Eagle Grove softball team saw their season end abruptly last Monday, July 8 at Belmond in an 11-5 loss to the Broncos. While they had some good offensive moments, the purple & gold just couldn’t seem to string enough together to offset costly mistakes on the other side of the ball.

Laine Morgan reached base on a fielders choice in the first inning, followed by Jozey Gump advancing on an error. Kenzie Crail followed that with a single, with Morgan scoring their first run by the end of that half of the inning. In the second, Marisa Beecher led by advancing to first on an error. She took second on another error, and made it to third on a passed ball. Lea Friedl then brought her home.

They enjoyed a good sixth inning, which was started by a Sabrina Flumerfelt base hit. Friedl reached on a fielders choice, with Hannah Beecher pounding out a base hit right after that. Cali Schultz drew a walk to first, with Morgan stepping into the box and blasting a double to far left field to score Friedl and H. Beecher. Gump singled, and Schultz also crossed the dish, before the end of the inning.
