Eagle Grove sending three qualifiers to state cross country

Even though their entire teams will not be running at the Lakeside course in Fort Dodge, the Eagles and Lady Eagles will both be represented at the state cross country meet this Saturday following the 2A qualifier at Panora last Thursday.

North Polk took the girls team crown with 58 points, and were led by first place individual Amelia Lester in 17:13.56. The rest of the top five teams, in the 11-team field, were Red Oak with 76, West Central Valley with 82, Greene County with 93 and Eagle Grove with 131.

Jana Willard will make the trip to the big show after taking fourth with a 17:44.00. Finishing behind her for the Lady Eagles were: Madison Anderson (23rd) in 19:00.42; Alix Rethman (33rd) in 20:00.44; Chloe Sunde (35th) in 20:07.77; Sammi Simons (36th) in 20:09.02; Lexi Beck (44th) in 21:04.99 and Samantha Helmke (56th) in 21:49.69.
