Eagle golfers compete at conference: Halverson ties for 10th

Last Monday at Mason City, the Eagle Grove boys golf team played in the Top of Iowa- West Division tournament.

Lake Mills took the team title with a 346 total, followed in order by: Forest City 351, Bishop Garrigan 359, Garner- Hayfield/Ventura 379, North Union 387, West Hancock 396, Eagle Grove 397, North Iowa 401 and Belmond-Klemme 433. Tyler Clouse of Forest City took individual top honors with an 18-hole score of 72.

For the Eagles, it was Nick Halverson leading the way in firing a 92 to finish in a threeway tie for 11th place. Other cards were turned in by Victor Frias with 97 (tied for 18th), Draven Rasmussen with 101 (tied for 26th), Thomas Adams with 107 (40th), Tyler Hansen with 110 (42nd) and Alex Nessa with 125 (tied for 50th). “Things didn’t go as we had hoped, but we saw improvement throughout the year,” stated head coach Corey Rutherford.

“We hope to keep building on that.”
