Eagle football still unbeaten following 41-20 blowout of WCV

It’s been a few years since the Eagle Grove varsity football team has opened the season at 3-0, and the excitement along with the team’s confidence continues to build with each win. Granted, there is a tough road ahead in this district. For now, Eagle Nation can just savor what they’ve accomplished while preparing to the best of their ability for what lies ahead. There’s no doubt that a 41-20 win last Friday at Stuart versus West Central Valley will set the stage for an exciting homecoming week here.

“We had a great start to the game defensively,” stated head coach Paul Hansch. “Ryan (Smith) had a pass interception on the first Wildcat play of the game, and on their next possession John (Mosley) picked off a pass on the first play of that drive. Those plays set us up on a short field, so consequently we were able to score a couple of first quarter touchdowns. The majority of their yards came on a couple long pass plays, but when you face a team who throws as many times in a game as they do it’s not unusual for that to happen.”
