Eagle baseball team squeaks out 7-6 win

ona, the Eagle Grove varsity baseball team scored a nice 7-6 road win over Bishop Garrigan. The Golden Bears were up 5-0 entering the top of the third, when Sam Johnson reached on a base hit followed by Ryan Smith moving him along. Nick Halverson then loaded the bags, with a Niko Padilla single bringing home Johnson. With the Bears up 6-1 entering the top of the sixth, the visitors erupted for six runs in what would be the final score. Carlos Lobato led off by drawing a walk, followed by John Mosley stepping into the box and ripping a double to right center. Dalton Schaffer walked to load them up again, setting the stage for Leo Calles to bring in Lobato. One batter later, a fielders choice by Smith brought in Mosley with a Halverson single bringing Schaffer home. Padilla’s base hit scored Smith, with Saxon Lyman smacking a two-run double to score both Halverson and Padilla.
