A drive-by birthday greeting

What do you do when you can’t bring the birthday girl to the party?  In Goldfield this past Monday, they brought the party to the birthday girl.

March 23 was a very special day for Bette Christensen of Goldfield in more ways than one.   Not only was it her 90th birthday, but she found out just how really loved she was when family, friends, and neighbors found a way to help her celebrate from afar...despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than a dozen cars filled with people lined up at the Old School Park in Goldfield at 2 p.m. and then proceeded to her house in a caravan, honking horns and waving flags as they approached her house.  Christensen was all smiles when she came to the door and saw the crowd that had gathered to wish her happy birthday from a safe distance afar.
