Disc golf course now ready for use at Greenwood Park

It began as a great thought for Kayne Carlson to have this as his Eagle Scout project, and thru his efforts and several other volunteer helpers Greenwood Park now has a ninehole disc golf course for young and old to utilize. Together with the new playground equipment, and the skate board park, it makes this area the envy of other communities this size.

Carlson, the 17-year old son of Leonard and Elaine Carlson, is a nineyear member of the Webster City troop. He needed a community service project for his award application, and was weighing a couple of options. “I felt this was best for what the town needed,” said Carlson.

He received help from both his troop and the Eagle Grove scout troop, and there were as many as 14 volunteers at different times and on several weekends to set up the course, place the baskets and construct the forms to pour the concrete ‘tee’ pads and finish up the project. Carlson had about 42 hours invested himself, with a total of 186 hours counting the volunteer efforts.
