Dawson, Mendoza returning to state wrestling meet

Following Class 1A district action last Saturday in Sioux Rapids, Mark Dawson (145) and Joel Mendoza (220) both punched their ticket for a return trip to Wells Fargo Arena. The best part is that they’re doing it as district champs.

Dawson won his opener by a 17-2 technical fall over Sarringer (Sib-Ochey), then took a close 6-5 nail biter match over Abbas 9C-G-D) in the finals. Mendoza opened with a fall in 1:44 over Bos (W. Christian), then took a 7-1 win over Ortiz (Sib-Ochey) for the gold.
