Council holds short meeting dealing with street projects

In the absence of mayor Sandy McGrath, mayor pro-tem Mike Weland presided over the regular session council meeting on Monday, June 17th. The bulk of the short agenda dealt with street repairs, as final plans and specs for the 2019 project were reviewed and discussed.

City Administrator Bryce Davis went over some of the details. Northwest Sixth Street will receive a milling & overlay along with some areas of patching. Cadwell Street has areas without adequate drainage, which creates ponding in the roadway, so that issue will be addressed. The Southwest Second cul-de-sac will include concrete collars for the manholes and patching where needed as the turn-around will also receive attention. The public hearing has been moved from June 17 to June 24 to review plans, specs and bid documents, with an anticipated letting later this month.

Davis also updated Council members on several other on-going projects. The rebar should arrive this week for the Southwest Ninth bridge, and the contractor will then schedule on-site demolition of a portion of the concrete for a repour.
