Council begins process for Eagle’s Wings project

Eagle’s Wings Preschool & Childcare is proposing a renovation/expansion project, and at this past Monday’s meeting of the City Council some agenda items got the ball rolling.

The Council held a public hearing, with no objections made, on submitting the application for the CDBG community facilities funds. The $1.049 million dollar project will combine the grant for $524,000 with local grants, donations and a conventional loan. The local contribution will be $692,593.

Street projects also took up a share of the agenda. A change order for $14,547.44 and a final pay application for $11,183.94, both for Fort Dodge Asphalt, were approved for work done under the 2019 street project. The change order reflected that some quantities did not require as much to complete the work and other items required additional quantities to complete. It also accounts for the addition of some patching. It adjusts all of the items to balance the contract out. A certificate of completion and acceptability of work document were also both approved to put a wrap on the project.

Attention then turned to the 2020 street improvement project plan. The Council will review the plans, specs and related documents at their January 20 meeting, and set a public hearing for the February 3 meeting to present the plan. The bid letting is planned for February 13 with the awarding of the bid at the February 17 meeting.
