Council approves housing grant guidelines, documentation

The Eagle Grove City Council received the final packet of guidelines and forms needed by residents to participate in the commercial construction incentive program at this past Monday’s meeting, and approved it as presented. It is now the hope of City Administrator Mike Boyd, and the Mayor and Council, that residents will take advantage of this opportunity to either build a new home or a new business building to open up existing housing.

The guidelines state, in part, that the program includes new commercial, industrial, residential and multi-residential projects that utilize local contractors. Grant requests may be made for up to 20 percent of the total project cost, but cannot exceed $40,000. The awards are also limited to the amount of work actually performed by the local contractor. The application for funds submission must include a completed building permit from the City, a commitment letter of proposed project funds from a lending institution, a map showing the location of the project, a proof of insurance by the contractor, an completed incentive program agreement and a contractor completion certification.
