Congressman King addresses foreign trade, immigration, and more at Town Hall Meeting in Eagle Grove

Congressman Steve King stopped in Eagle Grove on Wednesday, Sept. 4, as part of his 4th District tour. There are 39 counties and 382 towns within this District and King started the Wright County visit by saying there’s one thing he’s found that all of these places have in common.

“People are proud of their communities and they should be,” he said.

After a brief pause in the meeting to allow more chairs to be set up for the people who continued to filter into the Memorial Hall event, King continued by saying he knew the community would want to address poor farm markets and trade so he began by discussing the U.S., Mexico, Canada agreement (USMCA).

“When we first started out negotiating...we had to go down to the secure room in order to have discussions on that trade agreement because some of it was so confidential, we couldn’t have that discussion in my office,” explained King. “I’ve never had to do that on a trade agreement before.”

King said he was very impressed with the two negotiators.
