City Council considers historical survey for Downtown Revitalization

At this past Monday’s Eagle Grove City Council meeting, members looked over the request for proposal for the Downtown Façade Revitalization Program as part of the CDBG program.

A consultant will assist in preapplication services related to research and development of a fi nal report for buildings within the downtown area. Phase 1 will determine if any historical district exists and which buildings have the potential for a National Register nomination. The desire is to complete that work no later than April 1 of next year to be able to submit a grant application in May 2019.

Phase 2 will include completion of a site inventory form for approximately 18 buildings within the area of potential effect for submission to the Iowa Economic Development Authority. That work is dependent on the awarding of the grant next July. The City desires to have the individual site inventory forms completed no later than December 10, 2019.
