Career Academy educates the next generation of students

You’re never too young to start thinking about your future, and if your future plans include college, it’s never too early to start thinking about how you can save on the cost of obtaining your degree.

That’s where the North Central Career Academy of Iowa Central Community College in Eagle Grove comes into play - and that’s why Colleen Bartlett and the Career Academy opened their doors to Robert Blue Middle School eighth graders on Tuesday, May 14. This invite gave these almost high school students the chance to look around, ask questions, and experience hands-on learning that is offered at the Career Academy.

After four years of serving students in Eagle Grove and the surrounding school districts, Bartlett noted how the Career Academy has learned a lot in this time about what students want and what employers need. Bartlett believes this is just another way the Career Academy can benefit area students. Throughout the morning, these young learners and leaders of tomorrow had to weld a decoration that they got to take home; write computer programs for engineering technology that created spirals of circles, and developing advertising plans for selling pencils in the business and marketing strands.
