Brett Jensen becomes newest member of Triton Hall of Fame - Inducted on October 4 at Iowa Central

Baseball was always Brett Jensen’s favorite sport in high school at Eagle Grove, and he never got tired of being outside and playing baseball with his buddies during the spring and summer. That love of the game led him to being a part of a state champion team his senior year, continued success at both Iowa Central and the University of Nebraska and even a stint as a professional in the minor leagues after being drafted by a Major League Baseball club. All of it has now resulted in his highest honor, as he has been inducted into the Iowa Central Hall of Fame.

“I was definitely surprised when I got the call from Dr. Kinney (ICCC President) informing me of my selection,” said Jensen, who now works as a sales rep for Sportline Team Sports. “It’s humbling to have your former coaches nominate you for that type of honor, and I’m thankful for Coach Pederson, Coach Adams and Coach Stevens expressing their kind words about my time as a Triton. The induction was a great event to be a part of and I really appreciated the family and friends that were able to attend.”

Brett is the son of Linda and the late Gale Jensen, and recalled when he was a kid that the group he hung around with played together all the way through high school. “We used to pop open the light tower boxes at the little league field and play until somebody made us turn them off, or we just kept playing in the dark,” said the 2002 EGHS graduate. “I guess that goes to show the enthusiasm we had for the game and the fun we had playing, even though those games were meaningless. Hopefully, some of that enthusiasm still exists.”
