Blown away

Wright County youth had the opportunity to learn about windmills this past Saturday at a camp sponsored by the Iowa State University Extension Office in Clarion. Pictured above: The kids worked in groups to create model landscapes with varied topography and then placed windmill markers on them where they thought they would most effectively catch wind. A box fan that simulated wind was placed first on one side, then the other side of the map, and showed them that land formation impacts the best locations for windmills.
