Amended ordinance pertaining to fireworks in the city now adopted

At the meeting on Monday, July 10 of the Eagle Grove City Council, council members approved the second reading of the amendment to the city code ordinance regarding the use of fireworks within the city. That was followed by a motion to waive the third reading and adopt the change. That also carried. This will now outlaw use of any consumer or display fireworks within the city limits, but does not affect use of novelties such as sparklers or smoke bombs. Any other types can still be purchased, but can only be used with the proper permit.

“This still follows state law in that we cannot stop sales of the fireworks,” said Mayor Sandy McGrath. “However, citizen’s will still need a permit to use them. We can work with the guidelines of your permit.”
