Aaron Eilerts Day of Service and Giving is this Friday

The Ninth Annual Aaron Eilerts Day of Service and Giving is upon us. On Friday, Feb. 24, Robert Blue Middle School students, joined by various Eagle Grove High School students and volunteer community members, will once again come together to pay tribute to this young man who lost his life during a tornado at Little Sioux Boy Scout Ranch in June of 2008. Aaron had just finished the eighth grade at Robert Blue Middle School in Eagle Grove and was excited to be serving as a Scout leader. That fateful day, Aaron showed his true leadership skills and his deep compassion for others when he gave his own life making sure others would survive. Nearly a decade later Aaron’s legacy lives on in Eagle Grove. This one young boy, who figured out very early in life that you get the most joy out of life by making others happy, touched so many lives with his countless acts of good deed. He spent birthday money to buy material to sew pillowcases and give them to sick children in hospitals. He made blankets for animals in shelters. He cleaned up parks and helped nieghbors without being asked. He made people happy.
